Job Title: Financial Assistant

FLSA Status: Part-time (Will Average 20 to 30 Weekly Hours Depending on Need)

Reports To: Administrator

 

Summary: Responsible to the Administrator for specific functions of maintaining the church financial records and any projects assigned.

 

One-line Job Description: To serve as a financial steward by processing the tithes, offerings, and payments received by CRC.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 

  • Act as an ambassador for CRC by positively reflecting the vision, mission, strategy, and values to those inside and outside our walls.

  • Be able to assess and advise attendees and volunteers as to how and where they can take their next steps towards God and within the ministry.

  • Process all church offerings and prepare for bank deposit. Verify accuracy of counting team documentation and enter all funds received into appropriate church management software and accounting software. Maintain accurate records of pledges and contributions. Run appropriate reports.

  • Update Tithe/Attendance report with weekly offerings and online giving.

  • Provide Administrative Assistants with record of new givers (including online).

  • Process and enter online contributions into church management software and accounting software.

  • Check and total all invoices making note of any significant changes.

  • Pull bank debit information for entering invoices for electronic service fees.

  • Prepare and issue checks when approved. File invoices after payment is made.

  • Manage church credit cards by adding/deleting users and changing credit card limits. Process all credit card receipts and enter them into the correct expense accounts in the accounting software.

  • Make corrections to hourly employees’ time on a bi-weekly basis as needed for payroll.

  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly.

  • Mail all contributor statements quarterly and at year-end. Work with Administrator to prepare vision letter to accompany statements as needed.

  • Communicate budget status to ministry leaders as requested.

  • Prepare reports for accountants on a quarterly basis and at year-end. Work with accountants to make adjusting entries to accounting software.

  • At year-end, prepare appropriate tax documents (1099s & 1096s).

  • Maintain a fixed asset tracking system.

  • Maintain and update church management software records as needed.

  • Send out periodic letters and statements to donors.

  • Manage finances for capital campaigns when applicable.

  • Other tasks as assigned by Administrator.
