Description

Chestnut Ridge Church is looking for an energetic, relational, team-oriented Director of College Ministries who is responsible for implementing vision, strategy, support, and development to volunteer leaders to connect college students and young singles into a relationship with Christ and integrate them in the life of the church through groups and serving. You will join with a dynamic staff team in a grace-filled environment taking cues from North Point Ministries and "Simple Church". Experience in college ministry and familiarity with North Point Ministries' strategy and approach is a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Act as an ambassador for CRC by positively reflecting the vision, mission, strategy and values to those inside and outside our walls.

  • Be able to assess and advise attendees and volunteers as to how and where they can take their next steps towards God and within the ministry.

CRC Campus and Singles Environments

  • Speak into the effectiveness of the adult weekend environment.

  • Make sure it remains appealing, engaging and helpful to college students and singles.

  • Plan and execute “Next Step” events for college students and singles at weekend services.

  • Promote and organize college and singles community groups.

  • Lead and organize Encounter, a campus worship gathering

  • Plan and execute 3 weekend retreats (Fall/Spring/Summer).

  • Help CRC to be active on the campus to help reach out to new students.

  • Help assimilate college students and singles into the body of the church by helping them come to faith in Christ, get into groups and encouraging them to serve.

Leadership

 

Individual

  • Set appointments and meet with small group leaders regularly.

  • Equip and develop each leader around the leader essentials.

  • Monitor group health and provide care/service as needed.

  • Actively build relationships with leaders, college students and singles to point them to Christ.

Corporate

  • Ensure small group leaders are going through training.

  • Meet with and develop a student serving team to serve both in the life of our church and in the community.

  • Have CRC be active and involved in the life of WVU connecting new students to Christ.

  • Connect with ministries and para church organizations to see how we can work together to serve and reach the community for Christ.

Enlist/Recruit Leaders

  • Continually Attract, Connect, Train, and Sustain (ACTS) key volunteers to carry out ministry.

  • Invite current leaders to join the process of recruitment by emphasizing intentional apprenticeship.

  • Create opportunities to Test Drive and ensure a timely follow-up conversation.

  • Orient new leaders before starting a college community group.

  • Recruit/Lead a student serving team to help create environments and develop leadership.

Pastoral Duties

  • Provide pre-marital counseling as specified in Marriage 101 curriculum.

  • Officiate weddings and funerals as needed.

  • Perform baptisms in weekend services.

  • Speak in other environments as needed.

Administration

  • Oversee and ensure group data is updated (leaders, attendees, etc.).

  • Develop an annual departmental budget and manage spending to budget.

  • Oversee social media (facebook, twitter, CRC website).

  • Education/Experience:

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

  • Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of college students and the general church populations.

 

  • Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

  • Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.

 

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 10 or more volunteer leaders. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
