Description

Chestnut Ridge Church is seeking a full-time Student Ministry Director to lead 6th-8th middle school students into a growing relationship with God and others by investing in them, their parents, and the middle school small group leaders. The Middle School Director will have strong relational, leadership, team building, systems development, discernment and organizational skills.

 

We are located in the educational, commercial, medical and cultural hub of north-central West Virginia. Home of the Division I, Big 12 West Virginia University Mountaineers, Morgantown is recognized as one of the best small cities in which to live, work and raise a family.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Act as an ambassador for The Ridge by positively reflecting the vision, mission, strategy and values to those inside and outside our walls.
  • Assess and advise attenders and volunteers as to how and where they can take their next steps towards God and within the ministry.
  • Create and lead weekly onsite and online environments (large group/small group model) and regular events for students to grow in their relationships with God and others.
  • Help identify, recruit, train, and develop volunteer small group leaders who will invest time and energy into every student in the ministry inside and outside of regular programming.
  • Actively develop relationships with middle school parents through proactive and personal communication, regular prayer for each family, and equipping parents with culturally relevant resources.
  • Be present in the community (i.e. student athletic games, student plays, etc.) to meet students and their friends where they are and invite them to get involved with The Ridge Middle School Ministry.
  • Work with the Pastor of Ministries and other ministry directors to develop the yearly ministry plan and budget.
  • Participate in other staff and leadership development meetings/forums as needed (weekly staff meeting, doctrinal training time, etc.)
  • Speak in other environments, including weekend services and other larger group settings (as gifted and when developed).
  • Actively engage in the life of The Ridge by gathering, connecting, serving, giving and inviting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications:

 
  • A minimum of an earned Bachelor’s Degree in an area of concentration that has equipped you for vocational ministry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Full-time experience working with students in a church for 2+ years is preferred.
  • Active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, speech and behavior.
  • Agreement with The Ridge’s approach, beliefs and values.
  • Demonstrated experience in building teams, leading people and creating systems.
  • Team player who is able to work well with other team members, departments and with the structure of the organization.
  • Superior verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning and computer skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
