Description

Chestnut Ridge Church (www.chestnutridgechurch.com) is seeking a part-time Special Needs Coordinator to build and lead a ministry that serves children with special needs and their families through a volunteer team. 

We are located in the educational, commercial, medical and cultural hub of north-central West Virginia. Home of the Division I, Big 12 West Virginia University Mountaineers, Morgantown is recognized as one of the best small cities in which to live, work and raise a family.
 
Key Responsibilities
 

  • Act as an ambassador for The Ridge by positively reflecting the vision, mission, strategy and values to those inside and outside our walls.
  • Assess and advise attenders and volunteers as to how and where they can take their next steps towards God and within the ministry.
  • Lead and Grow Special Needs Ministry
    • Create and lead a weekly in-person environment that caters to the needs of kids while assisting them to grow in their relationships with God and others. 
    • Help identify, recruit, train, and develop volunteers who will invest time and energy into kids in the ministry inside and outside of regular programming. 
    • Actively develop relationships with parents of the children through proactive and personal communication, regular prayer for each family, and equipping parents with culturally relevant resources. 
  • Stay current on issues and concerns that parents and kids with special needs may face in the world today, and regularly adapt ministry to meet those pressing needs. 
  • Participate in other staff and leadership development meetings/forums as needed (weekly staff meeting, doctrinal training time, etc.)
  • Actively engage in the life of The Ridge by gathering, connecting, serving, giving and inviting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
 

  • A minimum of an earned Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required in an area of concentration that has equipped you for special education or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Experience working with families and kids with special needs is preferred. 
  • Active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, speech and behavior.
  • Agreement with The Ridge’s approach, beliefs and values.
  • Demonstrated experience in building teams, leading people and creating systems.
  • Team player who is able to work well with other team members, departments and with the structure of the organization.
  • Superior verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning and computer skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

 
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
